Definitions/comments
Foreign (resident) population: all residents in Switzerland without Swiss nationality. Until 2007 all foreigners with residence permits staying in Switzerland for at least 12 months are included. After 2007: short-term residents and asylum seekers are included. 1980/1981 and 1990/1991 data partially incomparable because of change in data source in 1980 and 1990. (Census/PETRA).
