The level of education of each respondent is compared to that of the parent (father or mother) with the higher level of education. Stability: same level of education, upward mobility: higher level of education, downward mobility: lower level of education. The calculations on educational mobility are based on the comparison between three levels of education: low = ISCED 0–2 (no post-compulsory education); medium = ISCED 3–5 (vocational education, specialist education, upper secondary education (Matura)); high = ISCED 6–7 (tertiary education: university of applied sciences, university).
