Not included are popular initiatives and referenda, purely communicative actions and the foundation of organisations. Data are based on the coverage of such events in the most important newspapers (Monday edition). Anti-globalisation events have only been coded separately since 2000, for former years they are included in other categories (mostly the solidarity and peace movements).
