Ecological awareness: Agreement with statement in %, Switzerland by education 2007

Definitions/Comments: Educational levels: low: ISCED 0–2 (compulsory schooling, pre-vocational education); intermediate: ISCED 3–4 (apprenticeship, matura); high: ISCED 5–6 (university, other tertiary).

Question wording: ‘I will now read you a series of statements. Please tell me, for each statement, how far you would agree. Everyone should accept cuts in the standard of living in order to protect the environment. Many of the claims about environmental threats are exaggerated’.

Answer categories: ‘strongly agree’, ‘mostly agree’, ‘neither agree nor disagree’, ‘mostly disagree’, ‘strongly disagree’. Percentages correspond to respondents who strongly/mostly agreed with the statement.
